Nyxian Pixeldust

2005-2014, She was a very special dog, tamer of cats, queen of the house, and the Procrastinating Picky Poopy Puppy Princess. She was fascinated by snow, and refused to use the bathroom on anything other than pine needles for the first three years of her life. A corgi mix, she had weird proportions, a bottomless appetite for tasting all the things, and a certainty that everything belonged to her. She survived parvo which she began showing symptoms the night before Hurricane Ike rolled through.
As a result, we rushed to the nearest emergency vet, an hour away, and they gave her meds and subcutaneous fluids with the reality that she probably wouldn't make it. We brought her back home, and as soon as we could, we found a local vet that had power (our regular vet did not) who would take her in and stabilize her. She spent a week there. 
She brought me my cat, Hunter, who is an absolute angel, despite starting off as a feral. They were best friends, of about the same age. 

My family still feels her absence like a wound.
